With its central location and outstanding infrastructure, Greater Omaha is home to key transportation companies and is a logistics center. In fact, Union Pacific and Werner Enterprises, two of Greater Omaha’s Fortune 1000 companies are in this sector.

  • Greater Omaha’s strategic, central location is served by air, rail, truck and barge, and benefits from an active general purpose foreign trade zone. More than 55 million people, with an effective buying income approaching $1 trillion, live within a 500-mile radius of Omaha.

  • More than 100 motor carriers in Greater Omaha can transport goods throughout the country, as well as strategic areas along the NAFTA corridor, in two to three days. In addition, there are three Class-I railroad companies in the area with extensive intermodal operations readily available.

  • Eppley Airfield is five minutes from downtown, and serves as a regional passenger and cargo airport. The airport’s expanded air cargo apron has services for national and international air freight and parcel service. Eppley Airfield continues to invest in terminal, apron, cargo areas and runway expansions.

  • The  Nebraska Logistics Council and the Nebraska Trucking Association provide educational and networking opportunities for the industry. Bellevue University’s Bachelor degree program in Logistics Management prepares the future workforce for this dynamic industry.  Middle school and high school programs also exist to train this industry's future workforce.
