Greater Omaha Economic Development Partnership

entrepreneurship

Greater Omaha is an excellent place to transform your idea into an entrepreneurial enterprise. Thanks to a dynamic entrepreneurial culture and a pool of experienced entrepreneurs, Omaha has consistently created successful growth start-ups for decades.

  • In 2007, eight companies from the Greater Omaha region were included in Inc. Magazine's list of the 1000 fastest growing businesses in the country: NetShops (154), Toolbarn.com (319), FirstComp (454), 21st Century Systems (605), Medical Solutions (625), CSSS.net (675) BirdDog Solutions (713), Corporate Finance Associates - Midwest (876). Eleven more are within the top 5000 fastest growing companies.

  • Omaha is home to the Scott Technology Center and Incubator, one of the premier incubator and accelerator facilities in the country. This incubator is home to a number of new technology start-up companies and is constantly on the look-out for the next big thing.

  • The Greater Omaha Economic Development Partnership has helped establish a number of partnerships, including Cornstalks (Omaha's Entrepreneurs and Investors Club) and the Midlands Venture Forum. The Partnership also worked with the Nebraska Business Development Center to publish the Keys to a Successful Business Start-Up (see right).

  • Omaha has a robust creative community that has helped spur innovative thinking across the spectrum of entertainment, marketing, and technology -- including acclaimed independent artists such as the bands behind the independent Saddle Creek Records label and the Bemis Center for Contemporary Art. This artistic flare and success has had a strong impact on the ability of entrepreneurs to innovate, grow, and thrive in the Greater Omaha area.
