OMAHA, Neb., April 2, 2009 Pacific Interpreters, specializing in language interpretation for medical providers across the U.S. and Canada, announced plans for a new inbound customer care center to be located at Central Park Plaza in downtown Omaha.

The Portland-based company contacted the Greater Omaha Economic Development Partnership last September as they began an exhaustive search to identify the ideal location for its redundant customer care and data center. Pacific Interpreters President David Porter said, “In our analysis, Omaha was chosen over three other major U.S. cities for the strength of its telecommunications infrastructure, well-educated workforce, reasonably priced real estate, and a culture our company determined to be friendly to customer care operations. We are excited to bring our business to Omaha and look forward to being an active partner in this vibrant business community.

“Pacific Interpreters commitment to invest in Greater Omaha demonstrates our city’s ability to support technology-based applications,” said David G. Brown, president and CEO of the Greater Omaha Chamber. “Their decision to expand in this area is another example of an established company choosing to be part of our successful business environment.

Pacific Interpreters offers medical interpretation for nearly 200 languages 24 hours a day, seven days a week and 365 days a year, processing more than 6,000 calls a day with a match between patients and providers of 99.625 percent. As a result of their service, medical providers can more accurately and quickly diagnose a patient’s condition.

The trained customer care consultants in Omaha will use their sophisticated software to identify the most appropriate interpreter and connect the medical service provider and interpreter in less than 30 seconds. Even if the medical provider cannot determine the language the patient speaks, the consultant can assist them to find an interpreter. .

“Our goal is to hire 20 people for our Omaha operation within the next few months and we plan to grow to around 50 customer care consultants by 2010” said Lesley Linn, Omaha’s new general manager. “We are seeking highly motivated individuals with consultative customer care experience who understand the critical nature of our work. The ability to speak a foreign language is not required.”
