Located at the hub of the nation’s fiber connectivity and communications networks, Greater Omaha’s fully redundant capacity ensures continuous availability. Businesses increasingly rely on technology, from transmission of voice and data, to infrastructure and IT resources required to manage it. The metro’s booming telecommunications and information technology sector is testament to the massive, sophisticated and carefully planned communications and network infrastructure.
Greater Omaha provides access to major fiber-optic networks, multiple points of presence (POPs) and direct, high capacity connections. More than 20 carriers have fiber entrances into the metro area offering redundancy and a wide variety of routing options.
Nearly 100 percent of Greater Omaha business addresses are served by digital central offices. Every central office is connected by interoffice SONET facilities with dual, counter rotating ring functionality and fiber network path separation. Carrier services range from T-1 to high-speed 155 Mbps (OC-3) all the way to 10 Gbps (OC-192) and beyond.
These networks are constantly being expanded and upgraded to support Greater Omaha’s technology-intense business community and its role as a main digital thoroughfare for the nation. |
