BLAIR, Neb.– Cargill today announced plans to occupy a new 30,000 square foot, one-story office to be built in the Hayden Place development along U.S. Highway 30 in Blair, close to the company’s biorefinery. The building will be constructed and owned by Minneapolis-based Ryan Companies, with Cargill as sole tenant. Construction is expected to begin this summer.
"We've enjoyed tremendous support in Blair for almost 15 years, and we’re excited to enhance that relationship by moving into this new facility," said Mike Lewis, vice president for Cargill Corn Milling’s Feed Group. "We've always thought it a good business decision to have our people in Blair; expanding our presence solidifies our commitment to this community."
The new building will be the headquarters for about 90 current employees of Cargill’s Corn Milling business unit, Feed Group, Procurement Group and the local Corn Buying team.
Washington County's Gateway Development Corporation worked with Cargill on the project. Gateway, housed at the Greater Omaha Chamber, is part of the Greater Omaha Economic Development Partnership.
"We are pleased that Cargill has chosen Blair for its relocation plans," said Blair Mayor James Realph. "Keeping the jobs in Blair was a major concern for the city, so we are happy it has worked out so well."
Roger Christianson, President of Gateway Development Corporation, said, "Cargill’s new office building is a terrific announcement for Blair, Washington County and Nebraska. Cargill’s continuing commitment to Blair, and creation of good jobs for the people in the community, is yet another sign that Blair is a great place to live and do business."
Mark Nordland, Ryan Companies vice president of development, said, "Ryan is excited to be working with Cargill and the city of Blair on this project. The importance of Cargill’s presence in Blair has been made clear by the spirit of cooperation from everyone involved."
