Greater Omaha is home to a higher percentage of high school and college graduates than the national averages. In fact, 92.4% of adults 25 and older are high school graduates, compared to the national average of 85.5%. And, 34.9% have earned bachelor’s degree or above, compared to the national average of 28.2%.

It’s a commitment to education that is built on a strong system of public school districts, with more than 300 facilities spanning eight counties. In fact, Expansion Management recently ranked Greater Omaha eleventh among mid-sized metros for the "Best Public Schools." Additional options include private, special service and alternative schools.

Private/Public Partnerships
Whether it’s internships pairing students with businesses, cooperative efforts between city leaders and community groups or raising awareness of special needs groups, Greater Omaha is fortunate to have the support of civic, business and government leaders to generate learning opportunities for students of all ages.

One example is the University of Nebraska’s Peter Kiewit Institute (PKI) of Information Science, Technology and Engineering on the south campus of UNO.

PKI’s state-of-the-art classroom and lab facilities, broadband on demand, super computing connectivity, 11 residence halls, and research and technology transfer facility are among the best in the nation. The institute draws top scholars from around the nation and the world.
