GREATER OMAHA CRIME

Greater Omaha's overall crime rate is better than the national average. In 2008, the national violent crime rate was 454.5 per 100,000 people. In Greater Omaha it was 417.3 occurrences per 100,000 people. During the period of 2004 to 2008, the violent crime rate in Greater Omaha declined by 9.1 percent, compared to the decline of 1.9 percent at the national level. Over the same time period, the property crime rate in Greater Omaha declined by 20.1 percent, compared to the decline of 8.6 percent for the nation.
