Established in 1885 as a land development project of the Union Stockyards Company, South Omaha has been a gateway of economic opportunity for people of many ethnicities and cultures during its history. More recently, the area has experienced a commercial renaissance, propelled by the growth of Omaha’s Latino community. Once again, this historic district has become of the city’s liveliest centers for new enterprise. An analysis of the potential markets has resulted in the development of business and development strategies for the district.
